Crime Taxing

California has been talking about weather or not to legalize pot for years but for the most part California politicians have been against it. But now that California is broke they are thinking it is a good idea. Legalize pot and tax the hell out of it. This has made me wonder about what other things might not be against the law anymore...as long as you tax it. Depending on how broke and desperate California gets...will armed robbery someday be OK as long as you pay taxes on what you stole? How about burglary...no big deal as long as you pay taxes. Robbing a bank will be allowable as long as you steal a whole lot so you can be taxed big $$$$$. Ok , maybe not a bank since the government owns them all, but how about a casino. And what about all the people serving time for just pot possession... will they get a GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD as long as they pay the pot taxes. Bottom line is that I am not for legalized pot but I think if they are going to legalize pot, it needs to be for all the other arguments discussed for years pryor not for the sole purposes of tax dollars.

Graduation...Class of 2009

How is it possible that my little baby grandson is graduating High School a week from tomorrow? He is 18 already. In a few years it is entirely possible I could be a great grandmother. I don't want to think about that. It feels like just such a short time ago that I was the one graduating. Time just goes by so fast. When he is at the place in his life as I am now, and looks back at the fact his grandson is graduating, I hope he reflects that he has had a good life and enjoyed the journey. Happy Graduation JAS.

GREEN

April was Earth Month and I have to say I really hate all this "GREEN" stuff!!! You know.... the carbon foot print, don't use any water or breath out or drive your car... that kind of stuff. But after reflecting on the subject I released I am green....a little anyways. I have planted 15 trees on my little piece of land. I water all my house plants with the old fish water when cleaning the fish tanks. I recycle all my diet Coke cans. So why do I hate all this GREEN stuff. Well I hate being told you have to do this . Hate having it crammed down my throat. Hate that GREEN is so political. Hate how TV shows think they have to be GREEN. I hate that people like Al Gore think they have the right to tell you how to live and that you need to do it GREEN but they don't and won't do it themselves. So bottom line...I hate GREEN even though I am Green!

the Torture controversy

Someone needs to explain to these fools who think sleep deprivation, a bug in a box and water boarding is torture just what real torture is. Burning people with lit cigarettes is torture. Breaking or cutting off limbs is torture. Electrical shocking is torture. So knock it off!!! And "LEAVE GEORGE BUSH ALONE."

Handbags part 2

I did my part in stimulating the economy today. I bought a Dooney & Bourke handbag. It is a guilty pleasure.

Handbags

Some women like to buy shoes. Some women like to buy clothes. Me, I like to buy handbags. I like to look at them in stores and on QVC and the QVC website. I look to see what handbags other women are carrying. Anyways, that got me to thinking...I don't like brown handbags. I don't know why I don't like then , I just don't. I am not a big fan of white handbags either but that is just because white gets dirty so fast. Lately my favorite color has been blue. Like a denim blue. Probably because I mostly just wear jeans. Anyways, I have been contemplating for several days as to why I don't like brown bags. Still don't know. Maybe brown is just boring.
Come to think of it....I don't like Brown shoes either!!!!

Obama/Biden bumper stickers

Every time I see a car with an Obama / Biden bumper sticker I yell "It's all your fault!!" They can't hear me but that's just how I feel. I can't honestly say that I believed McCain would have been a great president but he at least wouldn't be trying to make us a Socialist country and spend, spend, spend only to be followed by tax, tax, tax. There is a reason why the United States became a super power in just a short 3 hundred years. It was because of Capitalism !! Prosperity!! The American Dream!! Nobody is sneaking across the boarders to go into Mexico for a better life. Nobody is crossing the Alantic Ocean in a rickety boat to sneak into Cuba for a better life! So do me a favor, the election is over....take thoses bumper stickers off your cars...PLEASE!!!

the Spending Bill

I don't think this huge monstrous spending package is right. And I am not alone in thinking this. Seven Hundred Eighty Seven Billion Dollars!! Yikes!! How can the Senate and the House vote on such a huge spending bill they haven't even read? Have they no conscious? What happened to Obama's promise to let all of us...the American people ... see this and all other bills and legislation first? If Obama was half the man he portrayed in his campaign he would send it back and make the Senate and House do it over. And then let all of us Americans see it and have our say if we agree or not. It is, after all, our money that will have to pay for these things. I have always said sometimes bad things have to happen to put us on the right path for the good things to happen. I sure hope this isn't one of those times.

Politics- the Governor and President

1.) I had lunch with Nevada's Governor Jim Gibbons today in Las Vegas. There were also about 40 other people there. That is the closest I have ever been to a high level politician. I have to say I thought he would have been a little more outgoing to greet and shake the hands of us who were there. I am sure he was very busy but still...he couldn't shank hands with us. Perhaps that is politics as usual.

2.) I didn't vote for our new President but I truly wish him well and hope he does a good job for all our sakes. I am sorry to see Georgie go. I know a lot of people hated him ( I never could under stand their level of hate) but I was not one of them. I didn't always agree with him but I always felt he did what he thought was right for the people not for his political party. And just so you know, I will not follow the Democratic way and hate out new President just because I didn't vote for him. Now that Georgie is gone I wonder who those Democrats will hate now. That much hatred will have to go some place. Well, time will tell.

3.) I under stand that the First Grandmother will be living at the White House to take care of the First Children. I think that is really great. With all the new duties thier parents now have, who better to care for them then thier Grandmother. Yes, I know, they can have the best nannies available but that is no substitue for a childs parent. Grandma living at the White House is a good thing!

Plane Crash

Today a US Airways jet crashed in the Hudson River between Manhattan and New Jersey in New York after a flock of birds apparently struck its engines. There were about 155 people on board and all survived. How great was that! I fly about twice a year and can't help but think about what if the plane I am on goes down. So that made me think if I ever had to be on a Plane that crashed this would have been the one to be on. Don't get me wrong...I am not trying to make little of this event. I know it was horrifing and scarry but all survived with just a few injuries. The pilot was a hero and the people who were on that plane now have this great, scarry story to tell thier grandkids. A happy ending to a really bad situation. The story of how "I survived a plane crash in the Hudson river." I just hope that if ever a plane I am on goes down I am so lucky.

Celebrity Twins

It was just announced that late last month Rebecca Romijn gave birth to twins! Is it just me or are all the celebrity women having twins. Is it fertility treatments? Has to be. J-Lo has twins. Julia Roberts has twins. Angelina just had twins. Those are just the ones of the top of my head. I know there are more. What are the odds?
